Global Web Finishing gluers for the web printing industry come in many shapes and sizes, and offer many options. The standard in our industry is traditionally a “flexographic” type cylinder repeat application. The adhesive or coating material is metered and transferred to a “flexo pad” material, whereby the pad height or relief above the carrier cylinder actually prints the pad relief image directly to the passing web.

Pattern gluers regardless of location in press or finishing systems are generally four cylinder configurations which include a metering/pan/fountain roller, transfer cylinder, “flexo pad” cylinder, and impression cylinder.

The available design types are based on a set of basic fundamentals and predetermined user requirements such as:

• Heatset or cold set location
• Fixed position or portable
• Press size and speed requirements
• Adhesives and/or other coatings being applied

Applications from remoist gluers often include remoistenbable adhesives, latex based scratch off coatings, micro-encapsulated fragrances (scratch and sniff), and aqueous overprint coatings.

*Machine can be designed as portable using air bearing or caster relocation system for press to press integration or used in a “wet” gluing application/location.

** Machine can be designed as “segmented” to allow specified or multiple lateral print locations and customization of material applications such as multi across fragrance or other custom applications.

Wet gluers are always located post chills, and were traditionally located as fixed position machines in a web finishing line immediately following the angle bar deck prior to plow folding. For dedicated high speed production, fixed position allows heavier designs including double around circumference.
